Nematic order is ubiquitous in biological tissues. Here we show that flat nematic substrates can induce spontaneous global nematic alignment of dense, spindle-like cells, accompanied by cell division. To visualize this alignment, we color-coded the cells based on their orientation. Check out our new work on the Journal of Royal Society Interface!
